Thursday, June 5, 2008
Washington, DC

The Government of the District of Columbia, Department of Human Services, DC Fatherhood Initiative is co-sponsoring the 10th Annual International Fatherhood Conference. The conference will take place on Tuesday, June 10 through Friday, June 13, at Gallaudet University’s Kellogg Conference Hotel located at 800 Florida Avenue, NE.  Highlights include more than 40 workshops and local, national and international guest speakers.

The DHS invites individuals to join DCFI in celebrating the 10th Annual International Fatherhood Conference. Attendance at this event will provide the community with the opportunity to receive valuable information about programs and services for District fathers and their families. Events also include a welcome for Women in Fatherhood, a Fatherhood Film Festival and several policy forums.

The DHS DC Fatherhood Initiative administers competitive grants for non-profit, community and faith-based organizations to develop and implement projects that support healthy marriage, responsible parenting and economic stability. The DCFI provides a holistic approach to services that meet the needs of fathers and their families to ensure that fathers have the fundamental skills necessary to contribute to the financial, emotional and social development of their children.
