A Home for the Holidays

According to the 2017 Point-in-Time Count, more than 7,000 residents of the District of Columbia do not have a place to call home. As the holiday season approaches, DHS is working with landlords, stakeholders, and the community to find a safe, stable and affordable home for 400 of the District’s most vulnerable households. We need your help! Here is what you can do to help your neighbors find A Home for the Holidays:

LANDLORDS

While the District is providing the monetary resources to exit families and individuals from shelter as quickly as possible, available, affordable units are needed. If you are a landlord who wants to know more about innovative new strategies implemented to reduce your risks in partnering with the District please write, [email protected]

COMMUNITY

Many families and individuals exiting homelessness don’t have the necessary houseware such as pots and pans and other items needed to transform housing into a home. Donations of new or gently used kitchenware, toys, houseware and professional clothing will be collected and disseminated from November 15 through January 15.
