DHS Brand Guidelines

It is imperative to establish a brand identity that allows the public to effortlessly identify an organization by design, color, and other visual elements. Adhering to the Department of Human Services Style Guide is essential to ensure our communications have a common look that will help reinforce our brand and our unique identity. External parties, DHS employees, stakeholders, and contractors who communicate to our DHS audiences should follow this Style Guide.

Remember: There is only one DC Department of Human Services. Project or program logos should not be created without approval from the DHS Communication Division.

Our priority is to ensure that the agency maintains a coherent and effective visual tone that makes all DHS collateral immediately recognizable. For convenience, DHS’s Brand Ambassador has created guidance and templates for most document types that should include the departmental and mayoral logos.

All DHS employees, stakeholders, and contractors should apply the brand standards to all materials, without exception. To ensure consistency in the application of the DHS and Executive Office of the Mayor brands, the Communication Division must approve all graphics, marketing collateral, and other materials before they are printed or distributed internally or publicly.
