Services for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

The District offers a range of resources and services to support individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Click the following links to learn more.   

If you or someone you know needs free, accessible transportation to an emergency shelter, please contact the Homeless Services Hotline at (202) 399-7093 or dial 311. The Homeless Services Hotline is open every day from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.

During hypothermia season (November 1 - March 31), the Homeless Services Hotline is open 24 hours a day, and transportation to shelter is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Single System Shelters Visual Lookbook  

The Single System Shelters Lookbook offers a visual snapshot of bridge housing programs, day centers, and low-barrier shelters across the District. Inside, you’ll find photos, capacity details, and an overview of the programs and services that help individuals experiencing homelessness access shelter and housing, case management, and other resources.
