
The Teen Parent Assessment Program (TPAP) works to empower young people who are pregnant or parenting to move toward self-sufficiency and decrease additional unintended pregnancies.
TPAP works in partnership with the DHS’ Economic Security Administration (ESA) to promote self-sufficiency by increasing educational attainment levels for young people who do not possess a high school diploma or a general equivalence diploma (GED).
Eligibility
To be eligible for TPAP services, you must be a District resident under the age of 19 who is pregnant or parenting, has not graduated from high school, is willing to pursue an education, and receiving or eligible to receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
Services
As an active participant in TPAP, pregnant or parenting teens receive case management services using the Transition to Independence Process (TIP) model, an evidence-based intervention that aids young people in transitioning into adulthood.
