801 East Men’s Shelter Closed Tonight Due to Facility Repair

(Washington, DC)  Due to an ongoing water outage issue, The Department of Human Services (DHS) in collaboration with Catholic Charities, and the Community Partnership for the Prevention of Homelessness have closed the 801 East Men's Shelter tonight. Temporary Emergency Shelters have been established at the following recreation centers:

  • King-Greenleaf (201 N Street, SW, Washington, DC 20024)
  • Bald Eagle (100 Joliet Street, SW, Washington, DC 20032)
  • Ft. Stanton (1812 Erie Street, SE, Washington, DC 20020)

These locations will be used for emergency shelterin tonight, Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Residents from the shelter will be transported to the various Emergency Shelters where they will be provided meals, showers, and a safe place to sleep. All residents will be required to exit the recreation centers tomorrow morning no later than 7 am, as is the usual practice in low barrier shelters in the District. Transportation will also be provided from the recreation centers to SOME, Adams Place Day Center, or MLK Library starting at 6 am, Thursday, August 11. DHS will be responsible for the overall coordination of the relocation and will monitor all operations throughout the night.
