Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program of the District of Columbia

The Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP) provides homeless prevention including payment of rent and utility arrearages, security deposits and short-term rent subsidy, case management services, housing counseling, legal services, as well as rapid re-housing, including housing search assistance.

Eligibility:  Must be a District of Columbia resident and meet the following requirements:

  • Household income is at, or below, 50% of the Average Median Income;
  • Household lacks financial resources and supports to obtain or maintain housing;
  • Currently homeless or at imminent risk for homelessness but for assistance;
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain and/or maintain stable housing once program assistance ends and;
  • No other appropriate housing options have been identified.
