Let's Work Together
Want a safer Community? We do too!
Who we are: The Focused Improvement Area (FIA) partners are members of your community and representatives from various District of Columbia agencies.
What we do: Through our community partnerships, we are committed to helping create safer environments for District families. We work together to remove the violence in our schools and decrease the crime in our neighborhoods, specifically across five wards in the District of Columbia.
Where we are: Congress Heights*, Washington Highlands*, Trinidad-Rosedale*, Kennedy Street*, Parkview and Columbia Heights*.
The mission of the Mayor’s Focus Improvement Area is to support public safety initiatives to reduce criminal activity by focusing resources to increase employment opportunities, engage youth in meaningful activities, increase school attendance, and improve appearance of neighborhoods.
Department of Human Services role within the Focus Improvement Areas is to coordinate case review sessions and provide services to clients in need that are residing in the Focus Improvement Area, coordinate community service events and report on performance measures.
