Victims of severe forms of trafficking must provide proof of their status. Adult victims should provide a certification letter from the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) to verify they are trafficking victims. Child victims do not receive certification letters but should have a letter that verifies that they are eligible for benefits pursuant to section 107(b) of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000.
Letters issued to victims of trafficking should be verified by calling ORR’s trafficking verification line. The case worker should call the trafficking verification line at (202) 401-5510 to verify the validity of the letter and to inform ORR of the benefits for which the immigrant has applied. The letters will list a nine-digit tracking number that will be needed to verify its validity.
